Description SHIFT: Days (rotating weekends) SCHEDULE: Full-time At Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at St. David's, we believe deeply in making a difference in our patients' lives. As part of the Sarah Cannon Blood Cancer Network, we offer patients convenient, community-based access to complex blood cancer care including bone marrow transplant (BMT), clinical trials and innovative therapies such as CAR T-Cell therapy. The Sarah Cannon Blood Cancer Network brings together physician-led blood cancer programs across the United States and United Kingdom and is one of the largest providers of BMT. In fact, it conducts more than 1,000 transplants annually through six FACT accredited transplant centers and has performed more than 14,000 transplants since inception of its first program. St. David's South Austin Medical Center is part of St. David's HealthCare , one of the largest health systems in Texas, which was recognized with a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 2014. St. David's South Austin Medical Center is an acute care facility with 316 beds, offering a range of complex specialties and sub-specialties, including a nationally accredited oncology program with the area's only adult bone marrow transplant program; a trauma program that includes all of the capabilities and programmatic elements of a Level II trauma center to treat the most severely injured and critical patients; a comprehensive cardiac program; full-service maternity and newborn care with Level I and II nurseries; and two full-service emergency centers in the communities of Bee Cave and Bastrop. This is a BMT/Surgical Oncology unit that will be providing care to Bone Marrow transplant, general Oncology, and Surgical Oncology patients. The surgeries that include but are not limited to the following: Whipple, Colon Resection, Ileostomies, Liver Resection, Small bowel Resection, and HIPEC. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES RESEARCH RN ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Primary responsibility for this candidate is to manage research protocols by identifying study related elements, evaluating patient eligibility, development of study tools, data collection, data entry and reporting on study participants within study timelines. 2. Ability to manage multiple projects and report data on a regular basis while maintaining credibility and confidentiality of all patients. Keeps Physicians, Research Director informed concurrently of study enrollment, adverse events, protocol deviations, protocol violations, study progress, patient visit issues, monitoring visits, updated study requirements. 3. Develops and composes professional correspondence to the Institutional Review Board by accurately developing protocol specific informed consents, protocol applications and serious adverse event reporting through the Principal Investigator. 4. Ability to resolve queries through accurate supportive documentation. Coordinates and directs both internal and external monitoring visits and audits. 5. Responsible for completing Case Report Forms and databases and IRB updates in a timely manner, as well as, resolve all queries generated by the Registry. 6. Ability to coordinate protocols and patient visits with all sponsors and provide each sponsor with its protocol data. Obtains necessary follow in adherence with protocols. DATA MANAGEMENT RN ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Tracks and enrolls stem cell transplant patients into the federally mandated reporting system and federal research database in a timely manner. Manages the collection of data and extrapolates healthcare information for entry into the electronic capture system. 2. Timely and accurately collects all transplant information and follow up information from the patient and the patient's providers to maintain an accurate database of transplant information and additional research data. 3. Facilitates request for information on the transplant population for third party payers and independent request for information generated as a result of the hospital participation of the research arm of the central reporting system. 4. Provides all patient follow up and statistics as requested by program and participates in the FACT Accreditation process by providing medical records and documentation of the patient transplant process. 5. Ability to work independently and analyze the patient information and treatment pathway with the ability to interpret medical terminology in oncology and enter accurately into the CIBMTR database. 6. Composes correspondence with the CIBMTR, physicians, and committees and prepares reports as requested. Completes queries timely and accurately. 7. Participates in any CIBMTR Audit. Qualifications JOB REQUIREMENTS LEVEL OF FORMAL EDUCATION REQUIRED : Graduate of an accredited School of nursing LICENSURE REQUIRED : Registered Nurse license by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners. If compact license held, RN is required to obtain a Texas RN license within 90 days of their hire date. CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Must obtain Research RN Certification within I year EXPERIENCE REQUIRED : Minimum 2 years of Oncology Research experience. BLS certification from the American Heart Association
