Description SHIFT: PRN SCHEDULE: PRN/Per Diem St. David's South Austin Medical Center is part of St. David's HealthCare , one of the largest health systems in Texas, which was recognized with a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 2014. St. David's South Austin Medical Center is an acute care facility with 316 beds, offering a range of complex specialties and sub-specialties, including a nationally accredited oncology program with the area's only adult bone marrow transplant program; a trauma program that includes all of the capabilities and programmatic elements of a Level II trauma center to treat the most severely injured and critical patients; a comprehensive cardiac program; full-service maternity and newborn care with Level I and II nurseries; and two full-service emergency centers in the communities of Bee Cave and Bastrop. Position Description The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process to direct and deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in a safe and proficient manner, in accordance with individual patient needs. Provides direct patient care based upon South Austin Medical Center Hospital Standards of Care and Standards of Practice, Policies, Procedures and Practice Guidelines. Provides guidance and supervision to Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN), Nursing Technicians, Nursing Assistants and Unit Secretaries. He/She acts as patient advocate within the hospital environment. Assumes Charge Nurse responsibilities and accepts assignments on other units when necessary. Qualifications Education Required: Graduation from an NLN school of professional nursing Preferred: Completion of or actively pursuing a BSN degree Experience Required : A minimum of 2 years experience as a staff nurse in an acute care setting License & Certifications Required : Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Texas. If Compact License, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire. Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
