Description SHIFT: Days (rotating weekends) SCHEDULE: Full-time Shift: PRN + rotating call - must be able to respond to the hospital within 30 minutes. Houston Northwest Medical Center - Houston, Texas Position - Registered Nurse (RN) Cardiac Catheterization (Cath Lab) Since 1973, Houston Northwest Medical Center has been providing comprehensive healthcare to the North Houston communities. The hospital is known for its maternity and women's services, including a Level II Neonatal ICU, and for its cardiac care as well as bariatric and diabetes programs. In addition to its hospital emergency room, Houston Northwest Medical Center operates two urgent care centers. Houston Northwest Medical Center is currently accepting applications for Responsibilities: The Registered Nurse (RN) Cardiac Catheterization (Cath Lab) Must be able to prioritize work and duties well and must work well under stressful situations. Must demonstrate good communication and customer service skills with a variety of patients, physicians, and other health care providers both internal and external to the organization, and must make accurate clinical decisions and judgments quickly. Must demonstrate proficiency in understanding and calculating medication dosages, and demonstrate thorough knowledge of the side effects and hazards of various pharmacologic agents administered. Patient Assessment and Documentation of Patient Status Throughout Procedures: Oversees assessment and recording of patient status upon arrival to suite and throughout procedures. Ensures all appropriate documentation (pre, during, and post procedure) is complete. Independently performs monitor, scrub, and circulator roles. Identifies supplies needed for specific procedures Understands and practices sterile technique.. Enters procedure and supply charges correctly. Orients new employees. Participates in departmental performance improvement activities. Fulfills on-call responsibilities - must be able to respond to the hospital within 30 minutes. Qualifications Qualifications: Current RN licensure in the State of Texas. 2+ years of experience working with cardiac patients (i.e. Telemetry area, C.C.U.), and/or in a critical care setting (Emergency Department, Surgical/Medical Intensive Care). Previous experience in a Cath Lab performing diagnostic and interventional procedures is preferred. Bilingual communication abilities are preferred. Basic BLS and ACLS from an AHA provider.
