Description SHIFT: No Weekends SCHEDULE: Full-time St. David's North Austin Medical Center is part of St. David's HealthCare , one of the largest health systems in Texas, which was recognized with a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 2014. The 378-bed multi-specialty, acute care facility is dedicated to the highest level of women's health services, including maternity and newborn care with Level I, II and III nurseries at the adjacent St. David's Women's Center of Texas . The facility also features a 24-hour emergency department, the Texas Institute for Robotic Surgery , the Bariatric Center, heart and vascular center, neurology and neurosurgery, a kidney transplant program, inpatient and outpatient surgery, and acute inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, among many others. St. David's North Austin Medical Center is also home to St. David's Children's Hospital . In 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016, the hospital earned a national distinction for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group . Unit Description The Endoscopy Lab has three procedural rooms dedicated to providing procedural services. Position Description - Call Required, Some Weekend call required Under the indirect supervision of the Endoscopy Supervisor, the Registered Nurse is expected to implement the nursing process (including use of nursing diagnosis), document nursing activities and intervention plan, as well as medication administered. The RN provides leadership and supervises the care, maintenance and activities of the Endoscopy suites. Qualifications Education & Experience Required: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. One year experience as staff RN in acute care setting. Preferred: Completion of or actively pursing a BSN degree. One year experience as an endoscopy nurse or operating room nurse. Licenses & Certifications Required : Licensed by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners; Current certification as BLS Healthcare Provider; ACLS Preferred : Certification by SGNA. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Demonstrates effective working knowledge of equipment used in work area. Demonstrates effective guest relations with internal and external customers. Demonstrates knowledge of Meditech and general computer skills. Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information. Participates in budget control by using only those supplies necessary within the work area. Demonstrate an understanding of HCA's and St. David's \"Patient First\" safety initiatives through strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures. Works autonomously, sets priorities, and makes independent decisions of a complex nature. Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Participates in patient/family teaching Accepts shift work and takes call as needed by the department. Works with patients ranging in life span from infants to geriatric.
