POSITION SUMMARY: This prn position is within the travel clinic of Austin Diagnostic Clinic. As a registered nurse in our practice, you will function as a champion of patient care and provide professional nursing care for the clients and their travel needs. The RN will demonstrate clinical thinking skills, scientific judgement and leadership in the anticipation and planning of the needs of the client. The registered nurse is responsible for the collection of the client itinerary of travel and their medical history review as well as the collection of immunization history. The RN will develop an individual report using up to date travel information for health-related issues, environmental hazards, assessment of terrorism threat as well as embassy and consulate information. With the collected information, the RN will administer required vaccinations and prescribe travel medications as needed in accordance with physician orders. The nurse is also responsible for maintaining and reviewing patient records and charting the findings / actions of client visit. The nurse will assist in maintaining necessary supplies for the clinic as well as responding to and referring incoming telephone calls. The travel department staff may travel locally for offsite flu clinics at various local and corporate businesses. JOB DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Managing an orderly and efficient flow of patients including screening, preparation for exam, providing general nursing care, and arranging for testing and admissions. Instructs patients and families regarding medications and treatment instructions. Maintaining and reviewing patients' records including posting tests and examination results. Administering medications in accordance with physician orders. Checking rooms daily for necessary supplies. Responding to and referring incoming telephone calls (may include phone triage when needed). Qualifications EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited school of registered nursing is required. EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years experience as a registered nurse is preferred. LICENSE: Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations.
