As the only full-service, acute care hospital in East El Paso with a Level II Trauma designation in Emergency Services, we continue to expand our services to meet the growing needs of our tri-state community, providing special expertise in Cardiology, Maternity & Child Services, a Level III NICU, a Center of Excellence designation for our Bariatric Clinic and Minimally Invasive Surgery Center, and a newly renovated 32-bed Rehabilitation Hospital. POSITION SUMMARY This position assists the Director with the overall Infection Prevention Programs including surveillance, reporting and regulatory preparedness. Assists with the clinical aspects of the Employee Health Program, including pre-employment processing, occupational health testing and surveillance. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Demonstrates knowledge in occupational health and safety regulations and requirements. Demonstrates knowledge and application of Patient Care Standards, Standards of practice, regulatory agency standards, and institutional policies and procedures. Knowledge of the basic infection Prevention principles, including asepsis, epidemiology and principles of sterilization, disinfection and sanitation. Demonstrates knowledge of the cause and prevention of communicable diseases. Acts as a resource to hospital, medical staff and community for employee health and safety issues. May participate in orientation of new employees, as well as, continuing education programs and inservices. Demonstrates Customer Service and behaviors appropriately. Demonstrates knowledge of therapeutic and diagnostic measure, equipment, and procedures used in patient care as they relate to infection prevention. Creates, manages and analyses reports, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of Infection and Notifiable Disease report utilizing the Theradoc surveillance system. Serves as alternate NHSN administrator in the absence of the Director. Conducts departmental and daily Infection Prevention rounds to ensure survey readiness Completes monthly NDNQI data entry for CAUTI, CAUTI and VAE/VAP. Enforces Infection Prevention/Employee Health policies and procedures. Promotes interdisciplinary approach for the identification, tracking and resolution of infection prevention and employee health issues. Serves as alternate to EHSP Manager for pre-employment requirements, annual requirements/ updates, inoculations against epidemics, employee clearance to work post medical leave, and intervention for employees become ill or injured while on duty. Demonstrates knowledge in occupational health and safety regulations and requirements. Demonstrates knowledge and application of Patient Care Standards, Standards of practice, regulatory agency standards, and institutional policies and procedures. Acts as a resource to hospital, medical staff and community for Infection Prevention issues. Alternate on-call with other department staff. Qualifications REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS Associates or B.S.N. required. REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Current RN licensure in Texas or compact state required. 2 years experience in acute care setting required Bilingual in English and Spanish is required. PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES M.S.N. preferred Certification in Infection Prevention (CIC) is preferred Previous Infection Prevention experience is preferred
