What You Will Do
Job Summary:
Comprehensive critical care for infants and children, from birth to 17 years old, in a dynamic, technically advanced state of the art unit, including the ability to provide ECMO to the most critically ill patients. The patient population includes those effected by trauma, cardiac conditions, neuro, orthopedic, critical medical conditions and all other specialties requiring intensive monitored care. Staffed 24 hours a day by board certified Pediatric Intensivists, Respiratory Therapists, the best nurses in Texas, and backed by pediatric Anesthesiologists, Radiologists, and other support staff, our PICU and CVICU provides an atmosphere of learning, collaboration, opportunities to advance your professional career, and a supportive team you can call both coworkers and friends.
A subspecialty within our PICU is our new 12 bed Cardiovascular ICU unit. The Pediatric CV-ICU team is being led by world renowned pediatric Cardiovascular Surgeon, Dr. Charles Fraser. Dr. Fraser's specialty is treating the most complex congenital cardiac anomalies for those children most in need. Future plans include providing heart transplants for those Central Texas children needing this advanced service.

Responsibilities:
  • Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
QualificationsLicenses/Certifications/Registration:
  • Required Credential(s):
    • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
    • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing .
Education:
  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
Work Experience:
  • 1 Year Preferred Technical Experience.
